This body
grown fragile, floating,
a reed cut from its roots...
If a stream would ask me
to follow, I'd go, I think.
(Tr. Hirshfield & Aratami)

More heart-wrenching than
To sear my body with live coals
Against my flesh,
Bidding farewell on Miyakoshima's shore
As you part for the capital.
(Tr. Sarah M. Strong)

Since this body
was forgotten
by the one who promised to come,
my only thought is wondering
whether it even exists.
(Tr. Hirshfield & Aratami)

Y halo thar Ono no Komachi. It seems I turn to you whenever I am in pain about these sorts of things :(

I am so nervous about my stupid library school courses. I got B+ grades in my last two classes, and it is hard to let my old conditioned attitudes about grades slip (my junior high teacher used to tell us all that 80% was a bare pass, wtf). I am thinking of doing co-op instead of thesis work, because co-op is probably more useful, and I don't intend to go for a Ph.D in library sciences, so... :/

In other news, I finished Jade Empire. I am pleased with it, though it is disorienting to hear Nathan Fillion's voice come out of an Asian guy's mouth; but John Cleese as a ridiculous Outlander made everything better. I would have liked some moar male romance options for the female character, but I am pleased that you could get female/female and male/male options going. Except for the blacking out of those kisses, which I think is ridiculous, but it is nice to have the option there.

I have not been having a good weekend, as of late. Even cupcakes from a proper bakery have not been very helpful.

I fear this is a sign that I should go to bed at a proper time instead of watching Criminal Minds late into the night. And that I should be less passive aggressive and more assertive.

In other news, they finally finished the first Madame Xanadu run, and I am a bit sad. I enjoyed it a lot, although I would have liked a little more from it. Just what that "more" is, is kind of hard to say. It was beautiful, and I enjoyed the story, I just wish that there was more elaboration on Nimue and the Phantom Stranger's feelings for one another. Lol most soppy.

I am still going to follow the next runs of Madame X. I don't like its new (or should I say old?) art as much as I liked the origin arc's, but the story seems up my alley: tarot card lady with magical powers solving murder mysteries, yeaaaaah!
